From April to June of 1994, in a span of 90 days, a million men, women and children were murdered in Rwanda, many by neighbors and even family members. In just 28 years the people of Rwanda have rebuilt their nation and reconciled this tragic genocide in ways that are nothing short of miraculous. Today Rwanda is a peaceful people and a growing economy, welcoming international support with open arms. The 2025 Rollins in Rwanda Field Study, the seventh of its kind, will offer students an opportunity to live and work side by side with children, families, teachers and villagers in rural Rwanda for two weeks on selected projects to include: community gardening, health, and nutrition initiatives, co-teaching in community schools, English teaching, community literacy projects, and others. Includes visits to Akagara National Park in Eastern Province, Kigali, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

- Course Requirements: Journal, final reflection paper, and mixed media presentation

- Estimated Undergraduate Program Fee: $3,990
- Program Fee Includes: Round-trip airfare from Orlando International Airport (MCO), tuition, housing, most meals, on-site activities, on-site transportation, program administration, and emergency insurance.

- Please Note: Estimated costs for all programs are based on anticipated numbers of students, current exchange rates, and commercial airfares. Costs are subject to change. Final prices will always be communicated to accepted students before they commit to the program.
- Special Notifications: Students should be prepared for substantial walking to and from the orphanage on uneven ground, and some more strenuous conditions while working on some projects. There will also be on-site travel on rural roads that could induce motion sickness and areas with no air conditioning. There will also be limited food options for students with restricted diets and allergies and limited food options in general. Water for showering will be cold, and local tap water is not safe for drinking. Social acceptance towards LGBTQ+ individuals is low and students may encounter discrimination and bias.
